When it comes to my hair, I keep it pretty simple. My old routine used to be that I wouldn’t put heat on my hair more than probably 10 times for an entire year lol. Now that I curl it or straighten it at least once a week it requires a little bit more love. Here is what I have figured out:
Every 3-4 Days
Shampoo and Condition. I struggle with a dry scalp so its important to shampoo infrequently to keep from stripping the natural oils and minerals in my hair. However, I focus my shampoo on my scalp and try to massage it in really well. I condition mostly the bottom half of my hair and leave it in for 5 minutes. I currently use Nucleic shampoo and conditioner that I got from a salon. I used to spend a lot of $$$ on Paul Mitchell Tea Tree and it just wasn’t doing it for me. I am about to buy a new shampoo and conditioner so leave me your recommendations!
Argan Oil. I have had a small bottle of this for years and it lasts forever. Every time I get out of the shower I apply a pea size to my hand and rub it through my hair. It makes my hair smooth and softer that it would without!
1x a Week
No orange shampoo. I have sworn by Fanola No Orange for a year now and it is amazing. If you are a wannabe blonde, you need this. I dampen my hair a little before I get into the shower and I apply the purple shampoo where I see the most brass. If you have finer or weaker hair, mix the purple shampoo in with your regular! I let it sit for 10-15 minutes before washing out.
Hair Mask. The Davines hair butter is another product I have used every so often over the last year. I think its a game changer in terms of texture but there’s nothing special about it. I am not sold on it but I do think it does a great job if that makes sense. I apply it to damp hair before I do my purple shampoo mostly through the ends. I let it sit for 15 minutes while I apply my no orange shampoo and then rinse.
Scalp Scrub. This is one of my new favorite products to try new ones of and I found one I am really happy with! The Lazartigue oxygenating detox scrub is gentle but effective at removing build up from my scalp.
Olaplex No. 3 I recently incorporated this product into my weekly routine and the hardest thing about it is remembering to put it on with enough time to let it work on the hair before I actually shower. It is great for repairing damaged hair and split ends so I hope it is worth the hype!
Random Hair Habits:
- I shower at night and sleep with wet hair
- I put my hair in my bamboo hair towel from capillum after each wash!
- I only brush my hair when its dry
- I do not spray hair spray towards/on my scalp.
- I try to make my curls last 2 days to avoid heat damage.
- I occasionally use Kevin Murphy Staying Alive spray
Hair Tools:
- Revlon Hair Dryer + Brush (newest and fav addition)
- Conair Curling Iron (lasted me 6+ years)
- Remington Hair Straightener (has this for at least 6 years too)
